PMRA approves fungicide label expansion for berries and grapes

The Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) recently announced their approval of a minor use label expansion for Belchim Crop Protection Canada’s Diplomat fungicide. The expansion covers control of:

• powdery mildew on caneberries (including blackberries and raspberries);
• leather rot, and phomopsis leaf spot and fruit rot on strawberries; and
• downy mildew and phomopsis fruit rot on grapes.

Diplomat is a biofungicide that controls diseases for a variety of fruit, vegetable and ornamental crops. The active ingredient, polyoxin D zinc salt, is derived from the fermentation of a naturally occurring soil-borne microorganism. According to Belchim, when used as directed, it has no negative impact on wildlife or the environment. It is the only Group 19 fungicide registered for food use in Canada. |READ MORE
